Town Clerk

Overview

The Town Clerk’s office is entrusted with the responsibility of recording and indexing all of the town's land records; issuing and recording marriage licenses and recording birth and death certificates; issuing dog licenses; recording military discharges; filing liquor permits; keeping notary, justice of the peace and campaign finance records; performing a variety of election related duties, including the issuance of absentee ballots; filing and posting of agendas, minutes and supplying general information to the public.

With Property Fraud Alert, you can sign up to receive alerts whenever a document, such as a deed or mortgage, is recorded under your name.  Documents can be viewed online or at the Clerk's Office.

Cigarette Dealer  License Applications Per CGS 12-287, Section 59, paragraph (b) (1):  Upon filing an application, an applicant shall, in a form and manner prescribed by the department, give notice of such application to the clerk of the municipality where the business is to be located. Such notice shall contain the name and residential address of the applicant and the location of the place of business for which such license is to be issued. Upon receipt of such notice, the clerk shall post and maintain such notice on the Internet web site of the municipality for at least two weeks.
