General Information

The Middlebury Public Library is staffed by four full-time and four part-time employees and volunteers.

The Library’s hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 10am-5pm, Tuesday 10am-8pm, Saturdays 10am-2pm (closed from Memorial Day to Labor Day), and closed Sundays and most major holidays.

Present holdings include more than 73,000 books, periodicals, films (DVD), CDs, Video games, Kindles, activity bags, puzzles, etc. Plus an extensive Inter-Library-Loan system that will allow you to borrow any book in the state of CT.

Click on this link to view our Online Catalogue for those materials in the Library and surrounding libraries. The Library has special collections, including colleges/careers, parenting, large print books and a Connecticut History and Genealogy Room.

The Library offers family passes to area museums that are available for checkout. The Library also and in person programs, lectures and seminars which are available to the public free of charge.

Equipment available for use includes a photocopier and computer printing.

The 12 computer stations with unlimited Internet access, software (including educational, word processing and spread-sheets). The Library also provides Wireless access, which is accessible with a valid library card and your own wireless device.
