Supervised by the Director of Public Works, works in the construction and maintenance of Streets, Drainage Systems, Buildings, Grounds and Transfer Station operations. Responsible for the safe operation and proper maintenance of the equipment assigned and does other related work as required.
The majority of this work is performed outdoors during all seasons, in all types of weather conditions, storm conditions and temperature extremes. During the winter months DPW Personnel are required to be available and to respond for snow/ice removal 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. During emergencies this prospective candidate will be required to work extended periods of time, around the clock with very little rest. Exposures to dirt, fuel, oils, grease, asphalt, tack oil, concrete, paint, loud noises, smoke, fumes, and other unfavorable conditions can be expected daily.
