In Connecticut, wetlands are classified by soil types. The ideal goal when reviewing applications is for zero or at least a minimal disturbance.
The Middlebury Conversation Commission's goal is to continue duties and responsibilities in the protection of the Town's ntural resources and wetland protection through the promotion of prudent and sound management and engineering practives. One goal is to maintain the rual quality of our town along with the preservation of ouor natural resources.
The Middlebury Conservation Commission regulates all wetlands, watercourses, water bodies and their associated setback areas. All wetlands and watercourses are regulated with a one hundred foor setback and major lakes, ponds and watercourses carry a one hundred and fifty foot setback area. If any property owner intends on performing any activity within these areas must file a formal application with the commission. Submittal of any required applications are recieved in the Land Use Office.
Copies of the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Regulations are available for purchase in the Land Use Office.
