Center Services

There is a fifteen (15) minute PICK UP TIME for the mini bus. 

The PICK UP TIME is fifteen minutes before or fifteen minutes after. 

If you are not at your pickup location on time you will lose your ride.

COMPUTER CLASSES
Registration for computer courses is starting now.  These courses are run for four or eight weeks and are taught on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. 

 

One-on-one lessons are available by appointment only.  These lessons are on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the cost is $15 per hour.

 

Sean Howard our Computer Instructor is available to provide assistance with you tablet, computer viruses or malware for a small fee.  Please contact Social Services at 203-577-4166 to arrange for an appointment.

 

PROBATE SERVICES

If you would like to make an appointment with the Probate Judge, please call Patty Aleggi at 203-720-7046.

 


ENERGY ASSISTANCE

The Middlebury Social Services office will be taking application for the 2014 Energy Assistance program October 1st. Please bring with you all proofs of income, bank statements and copy of your energy bill, also number of persons in your household and their income, social security numbers and date of birth.

VA BENEFITS INFORMATION

On Thursday, November 6th @ 10am, Peter Dimaria, Service Officer for the State of CT will be at the Senior Center to speak about a  variety of benefits for veterans. Please call 203-577-4166 extension 708.

 

Thursday Transportation through GWTD

The Greater Waterbury Transit District (Dial a Ride) runs on Thursdays.

 

Out of town rides must be planned on Thursdays as the mini bus will only be used in town. Call Jeanne at 203-577-4166 extension 708 to arrange your trips on both buses.

 


FARMER'S MARKET

The Middlebury Farmer’s Market will be at the Shepardson Community Center on

October 2nd, 16th, and the 30th

 


The next AARP Driver Safety course will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Middlebury Senior Center, 1172 Whittemore Road, Middlebury, CT AARP membership is not required and drivers of all ages are invited to attend.

This is the nation’s first and largest driver refresher course. The course covers:

 

  • Learn new defensive driving techniques
  • Refresher in new laws and regulations
  • How to deal with aggressive drivers
  • How aging affects reaction time, seeing and hearing
  • New materials and new videos

 

Drivers who attend this class will receive a completion certificate and may be entitled to a discount on automobile insurance (contact your insurance company for details).

 

The cost to participate is only $15.00 for AARP members and $20.00 for AARP non-members. All checks must be made out to “AARP”.

Free Blood Pressure Screening

There is a free Blood Pressure screening every Tuesday conducted by our very own nurse Diane Morotto. Besides blood pressure screenings, Nurse Diane can help you with any questions you may have.

 

The hours are 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. No appointment necessary.

 


Free Hearing Screening

The free hearing screening this month will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Please call 203-577-4166 or an appointment.
