ABSENTEE BALLOTS             MAY 3, 2017 BUDGET REFERENDUM

 

Absentee ballots are available in the Middlebury Town Clerk’s office for the May 3, 2017 Budget Referendum. Electors and property owners owning property assessed at $1,000 or more on the last completed grand list are eligible to vote. They must also be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old.

 

An application must be filled out before a ballot can be issued. Ballots will not be mailed. The applications are available at the Town Clerk’s office or can be downloaded from the Secretary of the State’s website at www.sots.ct.gov  under Elections & Voting. Print application form for referendum with less than 3 weeks’ notice.

 

There are two questions on the ballot. Question #1 is “Shall the 2017-2018 proposed Town of Middlebury Municipal Budget in the amount of $10,607,802 be approved?”.  Question #2 is “Shall the proposed 2017-2018 Budget of the Pomperaug Regional School District #15 in the amount of $67,476,333 be adopted?”. 

 

The Middlebury Town Clerk’s office at 1212 Whittemore Road is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Additional information may be obtained by calling the office at (203) 758-2557.

 

General Information

The Town Clerk’s office is entrusted with the responsibility of recording and indexing all of the town's land records; issuing and recording marriage licenses and recording birth and death certificates; issuing dog licenses; recording military discharges; filing liquor permits; keeping notary, justice of the peace and campaign finance records; performing a variety of election related duties, including the issuance of absentee ballots; filing and posting of agendas, minutes and supplying general information to the public.
