The mission of the Middlebury Building & Grounds Department is to provide a safe and clean environment at all of the Town's parks, Recreational facilities, and public buildings.

The buildings include Town hall, Library, community Center, and Police station as an example. The parks include the Town beach at the Middlebury Recreation Area and Meadow View Park. In addition to these areas the Buildings and Grounds Department maintains the Town greenway. The greenway is a walking and biking trail that begins on Woodside Ave. next to Maggie Mc Fly's and winds for 8 miles through the heart of the Town ending at Quassy little league field at the Woodbury town line.

The department comprises 4 full time employees and hires college students during the summer months to assist the department in mowing 70 acres of grass. During the winter months the department clears the snow from town parking lots and building stairways.
