Town of Middlebury
Plan of Conservation and Development Update
The Plan of Conservation and Development serves as a tool
for identifying a community's long range needs and establishes broad
categories for the future use of land. The Plan typically contains a
number of policies that are implemented by other regulations and ordinances,
such as zoning and wetland regulations and scenic road ordinances.
Plans are mandated for all municipalities by the State
of Connecticut. The Planning and Zoning Commission oversees preparation
of the plan and has sole authority for approving it.
Middlebury adopted its first Plan of Development in 1973.
In 1990, the Town adopted an updated Plan. This is the most recent plan
as adopted in March 2001.
It can be downloaded and read in Adobe Format. It is also
available in book form at Middlebury Town Hall and can be purchased
for a small printing charge.
