NEW BUSINESS
The remainder of the meeting focused on the business aspects of organizing
events and getting people involved. This was a working session of the
subcommittee leaders discussing the process of developing a budget so that the
fund raising could begin in earnest.
1. Ralph Barra, acting leader of Fund Raising, said that it was time to pull
together a budget so that fund raising has a goal.
2. Ray Sullivan suggested steering committee role should be to
approve/disapprove events. Event chairpersons to be responsible for submitting
budgets ASAP to Finance Committee. Ron V and Ray P will draft a letter to
event owners requesting an initial budget.
3. Bob Desmarais voiced concern about the need for fundraising committee to
start producing and refining fundraising activities, which would be key to the
financial ability/success of the Bi-centennial.
There being no further business before the committee, motion by Ray P. to
adjourn, 2nd by Ron V., unanimously voted. Meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm.
The next meeting of the Bicentennial Committee will be held on Thursday February
2 at 7:00PM at Shepardson Community Center in Room 26. The meeting is open to
the public and anyone interested in helping the committee is welcome to attend.
