09/25/2010 - Flag Football
Middlebury P&R and the Middlebury Police Dept. are looking for kids interested in participating in PAL Flag Football. The program will run from mid-September through the end of October with play-off games in November and will be offered in 3 age groups, 7 to 9, 10 to 12, and 13 & 14 years old. Games will most likley be at Mary I Johnson field. There will be a nominal fee determined by the number of participants. If you are interested, please contact the P&R office @ 203.758.2520

Game, Set, Match! FirstPlay Tennis is partnering with the Middlebury Recreation Department to offer junior tennis lessons for children ages 3-13! Learn the basics or improve your skills! Grips, footwork, groundstrokes, volleys, and tons of age-appropriate tennis games will be played! Kiddie Tennis participants will follow the official USTA QuickStart Curriculum on 1/2 courts with peewee nets and foam balls. Please send your player with a racket and something to drink. All other equipment will be provided by the instructors. Each participant will receive a FirstPlay t-shirt and merit award!

WINTER SWIM TEAM
Join this competitive swim team which operates under Connecticut Swimming, a local swimming affiliate of USA Swimming. Athletes will receive stroke skill and technique development, conditioning, and experience competing in 25-yard pools around Connecticut. Practices will be based on age and ability and will take place weekly at Pomperaug High School.
Interested swimmers are invited to review the informational packet and registration materials at www.pacswimming.com. Swimmer registration will take place at the Southbury Parks & Recreation office on Wednesday September 8th from 6-8pm and Saturday September 11th from 8-11am. Coaches will be available to answer questions at both open registrations.
New swimmers must attend a mandatory evaluation to be held September 20th and 22nd at PHS.
Times are as follows:
Swimmers ages 10 and under 6:00 – 7:00pm
Swimmers ages 11 and over 7:00 – 8:00pm

C’mon, get happy! Studies show that piano lessons in the preschool years help in later academics, especially math & science. But for our Happy Piano students, the attraction is the fun & excitement they get from playing the piano! Music theory is introduced through songs, games & activities. Students begin playing songs on keyboards from the very first class.
