BASKETBALL PROGRAM 2007-2008
Registration for all basketball programs will be held at the Parks and Recreation office from Sept 17 thru October 26th. After October 26th a late fee of $20.00 will be charged and placement not guaranteed. Once teams have been picked, no new registrations will be taken. No Exceptions
REGISTRATION FORM

BOYS’ PROGRAM

3rd Grade
October 23rd Open Gym @ MES 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Takes place on Tuesday evenings at MES. Basic skill development takes into account first time player. Geared to age appropriate level. No actual games are played until 5 weeks into session. Fee: $50

4th Grade

October 25th Open Gym @ LMES 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Takes place on Thursday evenings at LMES. Basic skill development takes into account first time player. Geared to age appropriate level. No actual games are played until 5 weeks into session. Fee: $50

5th / 6th Grade

October 23rd Open Gym @ MMS 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Game skills are emphasized. Teams are picked after open gym and instructional clinics are held. Clinics are mandatory to insure team’s players are equal in skill level. Certified referees used at all games. Fee:$50

7th / 8th Grade
October 24th Open Gym @ MMS 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Teamwork, floor strategy and advanced skill development. Open gym and clinics will be held at Memorial before teams are picked. Games at MMS on Wednesday evenings beginning at 6:00 p.m. Fee: $50

GIRLS’ PROGRAM

           
3rd / 4th Grade Open Gym @ MES 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Several clinics will be held on Monday and Thursday evenings at MES beginning October 15th. Tri-town league play will be held December thru March. Fee: $50
5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Open Gym @ LMES 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Clinics will be held on Mondays at LMES beginning October 15th. Tri-town league play will be held December thru March. Fee:$50


GIRLS’ AND BOYS’ TRAVEL TEAM
Fee: $160 res / $170 nonres (includes uniform)
Uniforms to be returned at end of the season.
**Players must register for in-house in order to be eligible for travel team**

Girls Travel Team

5/6 Grade, Coach Malaspina & Fitzgerald
7/8 Grade, Coach Belden
Competitive basketball team for those girls seeking a more challenging and demanding style of play. Team plays in the Western Connecticut Girls basketball League(WCGBL). Schedule will be 20 to 25 games inclusive of the WCGBL’s league championship tournament. Tryouts are in October and season runs thru March. Tryouts are open to 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls. Date to be announced.

Boys Travel Team

Middlebury Residents Only
5/6 Grade, Coach Fitzgerald, Bivona & Gramolini
7/8 Grade, Coach Calzone & Chris Calzone
Provides and encourages a higher level of play, not available at the parks and recreation games for Boys Grade 5 – 8. Competition will be against other towns with a base population relatively close to Middlebury. The team will be part of the Rt. 44 league, parents are required to provide transportation for their child to and from the games. Try-outs will be held each fall. Players who have high-level of ability, or show promise of high level will be chosen. The coach will make the final decision.
All potential players must register with at Parks and Recreation to be eligible to try-out for the team. Should a player not be chosen a refund will be issued. Tryouts to be announced.

Non-Resident Policy
Registration for the recreational basketball program will be open to Southbury Children attending Middlebury Schools full-time.
Southbury children will not be allowed to play in both the Middlebury Basketball program and the Southbury Basketball program.
Parents must decide which program is more convenient for their child.
A $25.00 non-resident fee will be added to the registration fee for the Basketball Program.
