BASKETBALL PROGRAM 2009-2010

Registration for all basketball programs will be held at the Parks and Recreation office from Sept 8th thru October 30th. After October 30th a late fee of $20.00 will be charged and placement not guaranteed. Once teams have been picked, no new registrations will be taken. No Exceptions

Non-Resident Policy
Registration for the recreational basketball program will be open to Southbury residents that attend Middlebury Schools full-time. Children will not be allowed to play in both Middlebury and Southbury Basketball Programs. Parents must decide which program is more convenient for their child. A $25.00 non-resident fee will be added to the registration fee for the Basketball Program.

1ST & 2ND GRADE GIRLS & BOYS BASKETBALL PROGRAM
Day: Saturdays
Date: November 7th – February 27th

Place: M.E.S.
Fee: $80 1st child, discount for siblings
Max- 20 children per session
The children will learn the fundamentals of basketball in a positive learning environment with individual and group skills.

Level: Boys & Girls in grades 5 through 8
Location: Memorial Middle School
Dates: Friday, October 23rd & Friday, October 30th
Time: Grades 5 & 6      6:00-6:30 p.m.
Grades 7 & 8      7:30-9:00 p.m.

GIRLS’ PROGRAM

3rd & 4th Grade         Opening clinic @ MES October 5th     6:00–8:00 p.m.          111107-G3
Several clinics will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings at MES beginning October 5th. Tri-town league play will be held December thru March. Fee: $60 1st child, discount for siblings

5th to 8th Grade          Opening clinic @ LMES October 26th   6:15–8:30 p.m.
Clinics will be held on Mondays at LMES beginning October 26th. Tri-town league play will be held December thru March. Fee: $60 1st child, discount for siblings

Play on Tuesdays at MES. Basic skill development takes into account first time player. No actual games are played until 5 weeks into season. Fee: $60 1st child, discount for siblings
           
4th Grade                    Opening clinic @ LMES November 5th     6:00–8:00 p.m.     111103-B4
Play on Thursdays at LMES. Basic skill development takes into account first time player. No actual games are played until 5 weeks into session.

TRAVEL TEAMS
Fee: $180 - no discounts
All potential players must register with at Parks and Recreation to be eligible to try-out for the team. Should a player not be chosen a refund will be issued. Parents are required to provide transportation for their child to and from the games.

Girls Travel Team Tryouts
5/6 Grade       Friday, Nov. 6           LMES             6:00-8:00 p.m.           111110-T3
7/8 Grade       Thurs, Oct. 22           MMS               6:00-8:00 p.m.           111110-T4
Competitive program for players seeking a more challenging and demanding level of play. Team plays in the Western Connecticut Girls Basketball League (WCGBL). Schedule will be 20 to 25 games including the WCGBL’s championship tournament. Season runs thru March.

Boys Travel Team Tryouts
5/6 Grade       Monday, Oct. 26       MMS               6:00-7:30 p.m.           111111-T1
7/8 Grade       Monday, Oct. 26       MMS               7:45-9:00 p.m.           111111-T2
Provides and encourages a higher level of play for boys Grades 5 – 8. Competition will be against other towns with a base population relatively close to Middlebury. The team will play in the Rt. 44 League. Players who have high-level of ability or shows promise of high-level ability will be chosen. The coaches will make the final decisions.
