What we are responsible for

Middlebury is served by 11 full-time and four part-time officers under the direction of the Chief of Police, who reports to a Board of Police Commissioners.

The department provides complete investigative, public safety and traffic control services. In addition, the Police Department conducts a number of community programs, including the DARE anti-drug program in the fifth, eighth and high school grades, and the community service safety program for elementary grades.

Incoming calls are logged and dispatched by the Town's communications center. The communications center serves as the central monitoring station for private alarm systems hooked up through Master Security, a private alarm system company. The town monitors private alarms within town, dispatching services as needed.
