Chief of Police
The Town of Middlebury, Connecticut, population 7,000, is seeking an experienced candidate for the position as a uniformed working Chief of Police. The Chief of Police works under the general direction of the Board of Police Commissioners whose duties include approximately 70% administrative and 30% patrol/investigative responsibilities.
The Middlebury Police Department has 11 full time sworn officers, 4 part time sworn officers along with civilian
personnel. Candidates must possess unquestioned integrity and exceptional leadership skills along with a thorough knowledge of police administration and investigations. The successful candidate must meet all standards
established by the Connecticut P.O.S.T. Council.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Police Science, Criminal Justice or some related field
and five (5) years of police experience including two (2) years' experience at or above the rank of Lieutenant.
Candidate must live within a 25 mile radius of the Town within 1 year of employment.
Salary range: $80,000 - $95,000 (negotiable)
Benefit package: negotiable depending upon qualifications
